Pink, Parties, and Projects, Oh My!

Yesterday was "Pinkialicous" day, which meant that our whole day revolved around all things pink! Isabella was greeted in her room yesterday morning with a pink crown and a pink boa....
We did pink art projects, such as a pink collage, and ate special pink treats... a pink cupcake with pink frosting and a pink flower!

Even mommy got in on the pink motif!
We ended our day playing outside in the sprinkler...... and because it was so hot out, our cheeks were pink too!

Isabella even tried giving Jenna an outside "bath...."

It was a great end to our "Pinkalicous"day!

Last night we celebrated our cousin's 24th birthday.... with a walk on the wild side! ;)

                                                               Ashley loves animal print!
The lady of the hour....it was a very nice celebration with lots of laughs and very full tummies!

Today was a "non-slip" day because I knew we would be out and about running errands, however while Jenna was napping I did manage to squeeze in a few very over due sewing projects, such as these pillow slip covers...
I LOVE the fabric!I think they came out pretty cute!

It's not Wednesday... it's "Sun" day!

Today's slip read " The sun is shining bright, let's enjoy it until tonight!" This morning Isabella had her third day of swim lessons, which happen to be at the YMCA, which happens to be right next to the YMCA water park!!! So, after Isabella's lesson we enjoyed the sun and spent a few hours at the water park, the girls had a blast! After the water park we went home for lunch and Jenna went down for her afternoon nap. Meanwhile, Isabella worked on her special "sun" project... a sun catcher to hang on the window.
                                                                   It came out so cute!
After nap. we all went on a nature walk to enjoy the sun a little bit more... we collected bugs and ran through sprinklers! It was perfect! After our walk we came home and had dinner... which consisted of turkey bacon, pancakes, and oranges... designed like a sun of course!
Ready to soak up the sun!

The sun was shining bright today!

Where do I start?!

Ok, so, we have had a lot going on around here lately... we have been enjoying our "summer slips," playing, and plain ol' having fun! I will start with our slip from two days ago that read" Let's get Bedazzled," which consisted of all things jewelry... Isabella picked out a special necklace while birthday shopping with our cousin Ashley, making fruit loop necklaces, and "bedazzling" a picture frame for her room.
                                                           Fruity fun....

                                                              working hard on her frame!
Yesterday was a "non-slip" day because I had to go into work for a few hours my dear friend Juliane watched the girls....let me just say, she went above and beyond and made my girls morning extra special with fun art projects and an extra special lunch! Today was "movie day" because the weather outside was kinda yucky so we watched "101 Dalmatians" and "Tangled" and enjoyed some a very movie appropriate snack..popcorn!
It is no secret that Isabella loves all things pink and glittery and anything that requires dressing up and playing princess, well, Jenna decided she wanted to be a princess too and one afternoon she turned herself into Cinderella!
She decided to play both parts of Cinderella a once... wear the sparkly pink skirt WHILE sweeping the floor! Smart girl, multi-tasking already!

I decided to get involved with the dress up action and "dressed up" Jenna's hair!

A pony tail on top and pig tails in the back!!

This is my new favorite hair do!!!!!

My little otter

We have had a very, very busy few days between special play dates with our dear friends, the Kilcoyne's, fun summer activities ( the slips/papers) and Isabella's first day of swim lessons! She did such an amazing job this morning! She certainly has no fear and is quite comfortable in the water already, so learning how to actually how do swim is just the icing on the cake!! ;)
                                                                 She has such confidence!
After 4 weeks of lessons... she will be swimming like a little fish!

Puzzle Day

Being that today is Saturday I wanted to take the girls somewhere fun, a change of scenery...so we ventured off to a spray ground near uptown called Latta Park.  Although our slip read" pieces here, pieces there, pieces, pieces everywhere," was glimpse into today's theme... puzzles, we did not really jump into the theme until later in the day, after our adventure to the new park. We went to the spray ground with our good friends , the Kilcoynes and the girls had a blast! We started off at the playground and worked up a sweat then made our way over to the water works!!
                                               Isabella jumped right in...

whereas Jenna took a different approach and decided to observe...

Isabella could have stayed there all day..

Isabella tried to encourage her sister , but Jenna stood her ground!

We got home just in time for lunch , then played for a bit, had a dance party in the playroom and then tucked Jenna away for her nap. During nap time Isabella and I spent time working on a new "Toy Story" 3D puzzle. After much frustration and a bit of help from mommy, the puzzle was complete so we then moved on to our puzzle art project. Isabella made a puzzle piece collage!
She was very pleased with her outcome!
Such an abstract work of art! ;)

"Moon Day"

Today's paper read " Star light, star bright, I think I see the Moon tonight!" Today's activities were all focused around the moon and the stars. We started off the day doing some art work... we colored a 3D looking board with the planets. After we colored we got some black paper and made a glittery planet and star collage.
After our morning art projects we had lunch, and after lunch we had a very special, yummy dessert... none other than MOON PIES!

Once lunch came to a close we played an danced until Jenna was ready for her afternoon beauty rest. Once Jenna was down we continued our moon day by playing with "moon sand," which happened to be purple ;) Lemme just say the moon sand was much messier than expected.
For dinner we had spaghetti and "crescent rolls," both shaped as crescents and stars!

We concluded our night in the playroom... with the lights out! We had special glow in the dark necklaces and cool space cards that taught us all about the planets... daddy even got in on the action!
Overall, we had a "space-tacular" day!!

Summer lovin, havin some fun...

Philip, the girls and I left for Ocean Isle Beach very early Tuesday morning, so early in fact that I did something I swore I would never do.... I took my girls out of the house in their pajamas. ( well, just in the car, but still)
The girls at 5:30 am, ready for our trip....

We had such an amazing trip! We were only there for two short days, but we sure did make the best of it! We spent alllll day Tuesday at the beach. We ate dinner out and then ice cream, then returned back to our room for a very early lights out!( Poor Jenna could not keep her little peepers open!
unfortunately my camera was acting up , and still is, so I got very few pictures this trip...especially beach pictures.:( I did capture this action shot of Isabella and Daddy building the first sand castle of the trip.

Jenna LOVED  running up and down the beach! I had so much fun watching her..
Day 2- We ventured off to Southport and took the ferry from Southport to Ft. Fisher. The ferry itself was an adventure for the girls.... Neither child has ever been on a boat, especially one that you park your car on!!! Isabella and I ventured to the top of the ferry while daddy sat in the car with a napping little Jenna.
It was mighty hot on that ferry! We were happy to arrive at our destination- the Ft. Fisher Aquarium!
I got a few pictures while we were at the aquarium...but then my camera died...again.
This alligator was seriously creepy... he just sat there, staring......
Isabella pretending to "kiss" the alligator...
Overall we had a fantastic trip!! My girls are true water babies... I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree!

"Scrub a dub dub, there's a party in the tub!"

I'm baaaaack! I finally made it over to the geeks and my blog is finally on the mend.....
So, this past weekend I spent hours planning and organizing little ways to make the rest of Isabella's summer extra special. I found a really cute idea on another blog I read in which a slip/card is pulled every day and each day is themed. The day includes special activities, meals, cooking projects and art projects around the theme. Each little slip reads as a little quote, today's paper read " scrub a dub dub, there's a party in the tub!" I came up with a bunch of cute things to do for the summer and little ways to make each day special! Isabella was soooo excited to see what was in store for the day! The morning started off with homemade Belgian waffles topped with a princess rubber duckie, of course! The theme continued on when Isabella got to take her baby dolls outside on the deck and give them a special bubble bath in their little tub.
She had a blast with her little bathing beauty.

After dinner it continued when Isabella had a surprise waiting for her inside her bathroom...

                                                                    A party in the tub!!

Jenna wanted to get in on the action too...

It would not be a real party with a special CUPCAKE to eat in the bathtub!! ;)
The girls had sooooo much fun! Isabella thanked me over and over again... these are the days I will treasure forever.
